Bristol Real Estate ownership.

Bristol Real Estate   Bristol, Rhode Island is the ideal venue for all kinds of events ranging from weddings and reunions to corporate gatherings and retreats. Bristol includes a diverse group of event sites, accommodations, dining and catering.

Located in Bristol County, Rhode Island, Bristol is about 12 miles southeast of Providence and 12 miles north of Newport. With a population of about 22,000, Bristol is easily accessible from Routes 114 or 136 via Route 195, and from the Mount Hope Bridge via Route 24.

Historic Bristol is a beautiful community with breathtaking water views from almost everywhere you look. Surrounded by Mount Hope Bay to the east and Narragansett Bay to the south and west, Bristol is indeed the quintessential New England waterfront town.

Known as the "most patriotic town in America" Bristol plays host to the oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration in the nation. Since 1785 Bristol has celebrated the freedoms we all enjoy through prayer, parade and family gatherings. Flags wave proudly all around Bristol and the main street is adorned year 'round with a red, white and blue center stripe. It is said that more Bristol residents return home for the Fourth of July than any other time of year. That says something as to the special place this celebration has in Bristol, for patriotism is something we all take very seriously.

Bristol streets are lined with historic homes, meticulously kept grounds, great shops and restaurants and terrific inns and bed and breakfasts - wonderful places to spend some time and take a journey back through history!

Study history at one of Bristol's many interesting museums, such as The Herreshoff Marine Museum and America's Cup Hall of Fame, Linden Place, Bristol Art Museum, Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum, Coggeshall Farm Museum, Mt. Hope Farm, Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology and others, all great places to bring the family and learn while enjoying the beautiful day.

Once you have toured the Bristol museums, relax by sailing or kayaking on Bristol Harbor, or for the land lovers, bike riding on the East Bay Bike Path or through Colt State Park are sure to provide spectacular views and sunsets. These and many other recreational activities await those who wish to see the true Bristol.

Once you have worked up an appetite, visit one of Bristol's many appetizing restaurants. Bills of fare are indicative of the many ethnic and cultural backgrounds that make Bristol great. There are certainly enough choices to satisfy even the most finicky taste buds. From small bistros to grand restaurants, Bristol has it, all waiting to be discovered.

The median price of a house in 2003 was $285,000, up 24% from 2002. Historic Bristol houses are pricey, but they do come on the market and are highly sought after. In addition to an impressive downtown area, there are some nice Bristol neighborhoods that offer in-town living, as well as scenic country lanes on the other side of the harbor at Poppasquash Point.

The tax rate in Bristol is $16.50 per thousand, lower than its East Bay counterparts.

Bristol has municipal facilities for boating, and fishing. Bristol residents enjoy swimming at Beach Terrace, Bristol Highlands, Bristol Narrows and Town Beach. Colt State Park, a 464-acre recreational area, is open to the public for picnicking, sports, fishing, biking and swimming or just driving the family past beautiful scenery.

For those finished with house painting and lawn mowing, condominium developments invite a further look. Under construction is the tiny 80-unit Stone Harbor complex, on the Thames St. waterfront and Arbor View on State Street. A 20-unit rehab of the Belvedere Hotel, in the center of town on Hope St., is still in the planning stages. There are several established condominium complexes including Bristol Landing, Bristol Woods, Windmill Point, The Pines, and nearby North Farm.

The Bristol Warren Regional School District includes seven public elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. There are also two Catholic elementary schools. Several other private elementary and secondary schools are within easy driving distance. Roger Williams University, with schools of law and architecture, is at the southernmost tip of Bristol on Mount Hope Bay.
