Fairhaven Real Estate ownership.

Fairhaven High School   Fairhaven is a suburban, fishing, resort community on Buzzard's Bay in southeastern Massachusetts. It is about 15 miles southeast of Fall River, 55 miles south of Boston and 35 miles southeast of Providence. Until the middle of the

18th century, Fairhaven's economy was agricultural. After that, there was a shift toward maritime activities such as shipbuilding, whaling and foreign trade focusing on Fairhaven's wharves. In 1903, the American Tack Company's new plant was said to be the largest and best tack mill in the world. The Fairhaven community began taking on the character of a suburban town in the late 1870's when the street railway connected Fairhaven to New Bedford. At the same time Fairhaven began to develop as a summer resort.

If you're historically minded and anxious to explore, the Fairhaven area offers many architectural treasures donated to the town of Fairhaven by millionaire patron of the arts, Henry Huttleston Rogers. A favorite is the Unitarian Church with stained glass by Tiffany. It is one of the finest examples of Gothic Revival in America. Across the harbor from Fairhaven in New Bedford, Herman Melville's "dearest place in all New England", you can immerse yourself in the history and lore at the Whaling Maritime Historical National Park. Stroll up Johnny Cake Hill, or thrill to the color and commotion of one of the largest fishing fleets in the Northeast.

Today there are about 16,000 residents that call Fairhaven home. Fairhaven real estate is in high demand and they have many unique styles of homes to choose from. Cottages abound along the side streets of Sconticut Neck Road, while single-family colonials decorate Center Street. Growth has occurred in parts of Fairhaven such as the area bordering Fort Phoenix and West Island. Once home to summer cottages not intended for year-round use, West Island now has 380 homes, most of them full-time Fairhaven residences. Fairhaven property values have more than doubled within the past 5 years.

In addition to all the great sites in the immediate Fairhaven vicinity, you'll be 15 minutes from the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Cuttyhunk. Edgewater is only 45 minutes from Providence, the mansions in Newport, whale watching and Plymouth Plantation, Cape Cod, and the National seashore. Boston is a mere hour and a quarter away. Fairhaven has wonderful local beaches, walking tours, shopping and dining spots, as well as many cultural and artistic events throughout the year.

In Fairhaven, the average Fairhaven home prices range from $180,000 to $1.5 Million+. Fairhaven housing types available include Single Family Homes, Residential, Commercial, Lots & Land, Investment Properties, Waterfront, Townhomes and Condominiums.
